What’s So Different about BestCashCow?

BestCashCow is the only financially-oriented site on the web that brings together all of the information from other financial sites, Blogs, forums, personal sites, combines that with new content published via the site; and then allows its users to serve as editors to determine the most important content. Or to rephrase it, BestCashCow is the only place where you can read financial information from any source on the Web, including BestCashCow, vote on the most important information, discuss it, debate it, promote it, and more.

Where Does Information on the Site Come From?

All of the information outside of the Products and Rates section of the site is added by our users. They add content to the index and then determine which submissions should come to the top. The site’s editors add content to the Products and Rates section of the site.

How Can I Publish My Financial Articles on BestCashCow?

 There are two ways to get your opinions and thoughts included in BestCashCow's index. You can add your content to the index by linking to it from BestCashCow or by publishing it directly on the site. In both cases, your writing will appear in the index and on your personal BestCashCow page.

What Kind of Content Can I Add to BestCashCow?

We’re a financial services site so we allow articles, tools, rate information, news, etc. that pertain to financial services. Take a look at the categories. If your content fits into one of these categories then it probably belongs.

Please note that we only allow links directly to an article, tool, or analysis. Links to the homepages of websites or non-relevant content will be deleted.

Please also be sure you are not spamming the site with advertising. If you link to non-valuable content that is only promotional in nature, the link will be deleted and your account suspended.

Does It Cost Anything to Publish or Read?

No, it’s free to read and publish. Our sponsors graciously pay to support the site so please consider their products and services.

Can anyone post their writing?

You must be over 13 to post material to the site. As long as you are, anyone may submit material as long as it conforms to the site Content Posting Guidelines specified in our Member Agreement.

Do I retain ownership of my work?

If you post an article or commentary that you have written yourself (as opposed to link to someone else’s work), you retain full rights to your work. Please see the Member Agreement to view our rights policy.

Is it difficult to post something that I have authored?

No, it is as easy as cutting and pasting text from a Word document.

Can I hide my true identity?

You have the option of posting your work under a username. While you need to provide an email address per the Member Agreement, but only your username will be shown on the site.

Can I edit content that I have posted?

You can delete or change a comment, a posting or an original submission through the Manage tab

Can I preserve the formatting of work that I publish directly to the site?

The site does its best to preserve the formatting of your work. If you use Microsoft Word, we have a utility that preserves most of the formatting. When you are uploading your work, be sure to click on the W icon on the left hand side of the toolbar above the text box. In addition, please skim our tips for ensuring optimal formatting.

How are my entries showcased on the site?

There are many ways users can find what you have posted on the site. In addition, your work can be found by search engines and can be linked to from other sites.

  • The Homepage: Newly posted entries appears in the New section on the homepage. It stays there until newer entries comes along and slides it down and off the chart.
  • Categories: Entries in each categories is ordered by date submitted so your entries will start at the top and descend as other work is added to the site.
  • Your Profile Page: All of your entries appears on your personal profile page. From here, users can select from any of your posted entries. Links to your profile page are provided from all of your submissions and comments.
  • Popular: Submissions that catch the attention of the community or the Internet audience is featured on these lists.
  • Tags: Your entries can be found on relevant tags. Tags list entries from newest to oldest.
  • Search: Users can find your entries by searching by tag, title, or contributor.

What can I do to get more users to notice and comment on my submissions?

Here are some suggestions that we have seen others use successfully::

  • Read and provide interesting and thoughful comments on the entries of others on the site. This provides you with visibility and readers often first hear of writers through their comments.
  • Use the Invite tab at the top of the page to invite friends, family, and other who you think might be interested to visit and read your writing.
  • Put links on any personal sites you may have to your Profile page or directly to the piece of content you wish to promote. The url for your BestCashCow Profile page is listed in the Manage tab.
  • Submit the url of your personal page or story to sites such as Digg, del.icio.us, and Stumbleupon. We make it easy to do this with easy submission buttons at the bottom of every submission.
  • Post the url of your BestCashCow page on your Myspace, Xanga, Facebook, or other networking site.
