Hudson City Bank is headquartered in Paramus, NJ. It is the largest thrift in the United States and as of June 30, 2009 has over $57 billion in assets. The bank has 131  branches located in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. The bank is publicly traded on the Nasdaq under the symbol HCBK. While it's stock dropped during the financial crisis, it has rebounded and is currently trading at $12.85. Its 52-week high is $19.41.

Account Opening and Funding

Savings and CD accounts can be opened online. Once the application is completed, users are asked to print the signature card, fill it out, and send it back with a copy of the relevant driver's license. CD rates lock the day the application is submitted online. Funding can be done via a branch or electronically via ACH. Funding online takes 2-3 business days.

When the CD comes due, the cash can be retrieved at a branch or the depositor can use an online form to request that the cash be sent via cashier's check.
