Continuing fallout from the credit and bond crisis as cities and states say they no longer agree with the ratings given them by the rating agencies. In general, municipal bonds are rated below their corporate cousins even though munis have proven to be far safer. That means that cities and states have to pay higher interest. It also means investors receive higher interest for a safer bond.
