Stonebridge Bank offers competitive certificate of deposit (CD) rates as well as checking accounts and money markets. It's a small local bank located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The bank operates four branches and also opens accounts via its online application.
Stonebridge's offers are nationally available and accounts can be opened online as long as you are a US resident with a social security number or tax ID number. The application is online but the bank does use signature cards to confirm identify although it doesn't appear from the site's FAQs that they need to wait for the signature card to open the account. The account is considered opened once it is funded. Funding for Certificates of Deposit can only be done via wire transfers or by check. That's a bit inconvenients. While ACH can be done for money market and checking accounts, there is a $500 limit, which is awfully low.
Stonebridge Bank is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stonebridge Financial Corp., a holding company registered with the Federal Reserve Bank. Total assets of Stonebridge Financial Corp. were approximately $409 million as of year-end, 2006.
Stonebridge has a 4 out 5 star rating (Very Good) from Bauer Financial for safety and soundness.
