3Com is continuing to pare down its business. Based on the advice of a friend, I tend to look at spin-offs as good investment opportunities. They haven't disappointed me yet

Tipping Point is in a very competitive business and 3Com is doing this because they are battling for survival. Spin-offs may be good investment opportunities generally, but this would be one to avoid.
