MySpace is proving to be not as profitable as News Corporation had planned. Other social networking sites like Facebook and Bebo are also having a tough time growing profits.

These sites are trying to improve how they target the ads to the users, but there's the concern that users just don't pay attention to the ads.

There's no doubt that social networking sites will eventually make money. Where there are people there are profits to be made. I remember this same exact conversation around Yahoo, Google, etc back in the early days of the Web. Amazing that people don't learn.

I agree with Mass Market. Once you build a big enough audience it's generally just a matter of time until you figure out how to monetize it. Some of these social networking sites have bigger audiences than television.

These are fads. Bunch of anti-socials playing around on the computer. Much better if you come to one my vacation or casino complexes.

People are there to play, not buy things. I can't remember a single ad on Myspace. Of course, the same is true on Google. I've never clicked on an ad.
