The credit crunch is hitting student loans as turmoil in the debt markets along with high student default rates make lenders wary. Despite falling interest rates, rates on student loans are expected to go up as much as a full percentage point from last year. Experts also think it will be more difficult to get a loan.

I'm sure that's welcome news for students and parents as the price of college tuition continues its inexorable climb.
