The vast majority of pilots on Chinese airlines speak little or no English. Yesterday, CNN carried the live transcript of a Chinese pilot communicating with the tower at Kennedy. It was chilling. He could not understand a thing. The Chinese simply do not have enough pilots who know English. In the meantime, flying with those planes up there is very dangerous and the international economic implications of the first such accident will be huge.
