The Bush administration is pushing again for legislation to legalize strip mining which has already destroyed Appalachia's environment. This legislation being pushed by Robert Byrd, West Virginia's senior senator, who is also a democrat. It is more obvious than ever before that everyone is Washington is bought by special interests (and the Democrats more than anyone) and that this cannot easily be reversed. Against the backdrop of an environmental disaster, we desperately need a third party to raise the red flag and protect the environment.
