The press recently reported on the amazing returns of Harvard and Yale. I think that both grew their endowments by 25-26% in the last 12 months which is extraordinary in any environment. Roger Nussbaum has some interesting thoughts here on why this is so tough for investors to match. I saw the Yale manager on TV saying that it is impossible for individual investors to duplicate his performance because he has access to many more investment vehicles.
