Parents spend 20 billion per year on toys for their babies to make them smarter. Baby Einstein, Brainy Baby, etc. sell products which research has not shown to make any difference on children's IQs.
I have used Baby Einstein videos and must admit that they did keep our kid's attention for half an hour, giving me and my husband time to eat and breathe. The kids also seemed to enjoy the videos even if they weren't getting smarter from them. As long as kids aren't being harmed, I have no problem with them.
