Hillary may be middle age. It may be politically incorrect to notice. But, the fact of the matter is that cleavage is always an object of attention, even when they are the breasts of a middle aged woman, of one conservatively attired, and of a candidate for president of the United States.
Senator Clinton was giving a talk last week on the Senate floor wearing a far-from-provocative V-neck top. But it caught the attention of a journalist at the Washington Post who gave play and attention to her exposed cleavage. That the journalist was female only added to the story. Clinton’s people joined in, trying to make reference to her cleavage a fund raising opportunity – decrying such focus and calling for support for her on the basis of issues not breasts.
Cleavage will not go away (thank goodness). It makes good fund raising. It makes good news. And, it says that women can be leaders and have breasts too. Issues matter, but so does gender.
