The Japanese who are super-safety conscious have clearly had a big leak at their largest nuclear reactor. This shows the risk in nuclear.

I am quite amazed that many, include those who have written on this site, think that the solution to our energy problems is to let the French (who are not safety conscious at all) build nuclear reactors all over the place. If you want to trust the French with your safety, go drive in France, but please never let these folks address our energy needs.

I agree that nuclear is more risky than the French admit, though many, including some leading MIT folks, have suggested that it could be made much safer in the US.

It can be made safer. And it safer than oil? Look how many Amnerican troops are getting killed over oil. Look at 9/11. Taken together, nuclear is far safer and will contribute to a much more stable world.

Har! When electricity is gone because you wouldn't allow nuclear plants to be built, we'll see who's laughing.
