With today's launch of the Fox Business Channel, I no longer need to let these folks into my living room.

It has been years already since CNBC shifted its focus to being a financial news channel to an entertainment channel that is just back filling up the space between advertisements (think Cramer, Rattigan and his crew, the morning schanagans and Maria).

I suppose that Bloomberg has been an alternative to CNBC for a while, but that goes the other way and is too dry. I only watch it during the middle of the night in the US when I waking up or going to sleep in hotels in Asia or Europe.

Now, Ruppert Murdoch has the equation for providing the proper balance between real financial news with the right amount of entertainment. He launched the Fox Business Channel this morning and so far I am very pleased. It is nice to get a good balance of financial information with the right amount of editorial from real journalists. Plus, owning the Wall Street Journal doesn't hurt on the credibility factor.

I may still watch a little bit of Donny Deutsch and I may watch a little of David Faber in the evenings. These guys are real class acts.

Otherwise, my allegiance is already switched to Fox.

By the way, did anyone notice that the last half an hour of Maria's special on Alan Greenspan was a replay over and over again of a 5 minute segment? I'll take a pass on her special on October 1987.

You can feel free to wander away from CNBC but I am not going anywhere - especially as I think that the launch of FOX will bring more excitement to CNBC like the incident that you yourself wrote about several weeks ago.

I checked it and it is a dramatic improvement. We'll see if the primetime shows can pull people away from Fast Money and Mad Money.

I took a look and it doesn't look much different to me. Same as CNBC which isn't going to cut it.

Which channel is it on?

Unlike MKhan who is clearly hoping to see a little cleavage, I am sticking with CNBC because it is definitely less of a joke that Fox Business for the moment. I hope that Fox can pull it together, but it looks very, very weak at the moment.

This is funny! Fox Business News is a complete joke. Their anchors are chosen for their looks. And Fox News wasn't exactly a place to turn for objective information...about anything.
