The Financial Times is reporting that Vodafone will acquire Verizon, which is the other extreme from last week's report that it would sell its 45% stake in Verizon Wireless to Verizon. Fixed line is a different business from wireless all together, and I find it highly unlikely that Vodafone (which has no fixed line presence) would start enter this business by buying one of the biggest US carriers.

I agree that this should go in the highly unlikely category, but I can understand why Verizon would be an attractive asset for them. US assets are dirt cheap for European investors these days and Verizon's valuation is not unreasonable.
