This is good news. The Wall Street Journal is one of the few really good publications left in the US and the owners have done a great job preserving editorial integrity. That integrity would have been out the window if GE were to become the owner

You might want to watch a few minutes of Fox News and then contemplate the possibility of Rupert Murdoch ownings the Wall Street Journal. His ownership would turn the paper into a right wing podium.

As the article points out, Pearson is largely an educational publisher. But, their financial publications - the FT and the Economist - are spectacular and they would have been a good custodian of the Wall Street Journal, even with GE also in there.
