This is interesting. I would like to see more comparisions of which online banks offer the best deals over time. It's great to get a great rate or deal from an online bank, but its even better when they keep up the deals over time saving you the cost of switching banks.

even though e*trade is being punch around, they have the best online bank in my mind. They have fast ACH, great online management, fast online customer service response, and easy opening process.

There are different dimensions to online banking other than rates, that impact on the overall customer experience. Website interface, ACH transfer process, the whole insane Patriot Act inspired confirmation process etc. But I think inspite of their less than stellar rates, ING, GMAC and KeyDirect are among the best.
It's still a curiosity to me that you can undermine the entire US economy and destabilize world markets without any oversight or regulation or penalty, i.e. the whole sub-prime scam. But if you want to open a $500 Money Market account online, you practically have to send a DNA sample to get the account approved. Who makes our laws anyhow.
