H&R Block Bank is a small FDIC-insured bank that is operated out of Kansas City, Mo. As of 9/30/08, the bank had $1.06 billion in assets and $746 million in total deposits. It is rates two stars by Bauer Financial.
The bank allows funding using ACH transfers. For CDs, the bank's minimum deposit is $250; their is a 90 day interest penalty for early withdrawal, 10 day grace period at maturity. The bank locks CDs after receiving an application, and for applications that are mailed in, they will recognize the postmark date.

Mailed cd application and check on 1/26/09. No responce from H&R as of 2/9/09. Bank did not respond to e-mail and no human will answer phone. Stopped paymrnt on check 2/9/09.

I did call their 800 number to inquire about CDs. After an inordinately long wait, I finally was able to talk to a customer service rep, who was uninformed and didn't know anything about CDs. Caveat.

Website doesn't show anything near the 3.25% rate. You do get 3.25% for a 1 year CD. A Money Market pays 1.75% for balances above $50,000.
