Bank of America is offering $75 to open a My Access checking account online. There's a catch though.

Bank of America is offering $75 to open a My Access checking account.  I checked the itty-bitty terms and conditions at the bottom of the page and here's what it says:

"This is a special offer to existing Bank of America credit card customers and only valid only for new MyAccess Checking® accounts. This offer does not apply to current checking customers or student checking accounts."

Does  that mean I can't get the offer is I don't have a Bank of America credit card?  I started through the application but was never stopped and asked for my credit card information.  I gave them a call to be sure and was told by the CSR that you indeed must be a credit card customer to get the A$75.  They'll let anyone apply, thinking they can get the $75 but you need to have the credit card in order to get the cash.

Now, CSRs are notoriously wrong about this kind of stuff but if you don't have a BofA credit card I wouldn't bother.  The hassle of opening an account isn't worth the chance that you won't receive the $75.

I opened an checking account since I had a Credit Card with them, yet it's been over 3 months and I still haven't received my money. I'm going to call them about that.

I opened my account on 11/1/09. The $75 was supposed to be deposited within 90 days. I've emailed twice and called them today. They now say they are behind and it could be 120 days. Doesn't look like Bank of America can be trusted to live up to their offers.

Opened the account last week. I heard it was 30 days until you get the $75. Maybe they don't send it to your checking account, but credit you're credit card (since this offer is only for people with BOA credit cards).

Disregard last statement. It is 30 days to fund the checking account with a minimum of $125 (in order to get the $75), and then a 90 day wait (which will be added to the checking account). For those who opened the accounts but didn't receive their $75, did they deposit at least $125 in the first 30 days since opening the account?
