Alliant CU has a history of high rates on its savings account, HSA, IRA and CDs. It has many features of the best online banks including an online application, ACH transfer system for electronic transfers, and 24/7 live customer service.

It's not perfect. Problems that have been mentioned include: online application problems, a hard credit inquiry (which can temporarily ding your credit score) in the application process, and a low $10,000 ACH transfer limit.

Its field of membership includes local and national PTA members. Anyone can join the National PTA with a small membership fee.
