This blog post has a good discussion on some of the important features from online banks besides high rates.

An important feature for me is the ability to easily link to my other bank accounts. I hate having to mail a voided check so I can link an account. E*TRADE's Complete Savings's Quick Transfer system is one of my favorites. The linking is done online with trial deposits to any type of account and the ACH transfers are fast.
