You probably know H&R Block for its tax preparation services, but you may not know that they also have a bank. H&R Block Bank offers CDs, money market accounts and checking accounts online. They're currently offering some very competitive CD rates as of 1/24/2009. The most competitive include a 3.25% APY 1-year CD, a 3.50% APY 2-year CD and a 4.00% APY 3-year CD.

CD's are great, but I have found a few banks that have been offering Rewards Checking with 5-6% APY and the rate doesn't seem like it will drop too much in the next couple years. Even if it does drop 1% it will still be above a 3% CD. The best one I have seen so far is Coulee Bank. They offer 5.01% APY and up to $20 back on ATM fees. It's available nationwide at http://CouleeBank.net.
