Self-Help Credit Union is part of the nonprofit Center for Community Self-Help. It's one of the largest community development financial institutions in the nation. It's established to provide credit, financial services, and other services to underserved markets or populations.
Self-Help Credit Union is a state-chartered credit union under the supervision of the North Carolina Department of Commerce. It is federally insured by the NCUA.
The credit union has a history of competitive certificate and IRA certificate rates.
Membership is open to anyone in the nation who pays a $25 one-time fee. $20 of that fee is a contribution to the Center of Community Self-Help (CCSH). The other $5 represents your non-refundable share ownership in the Self-Help Credit Union.
