Something about the situation with VMWare isn't quite adding up. The stock was down very moderately after the release of earnings and before the analyst call. When the company suggested that it was taking a more conservative approach to its guidance for the second half of 2008 so that full year guidance would be 4% below analyst estimates (it actually raised its guidance for the first two quarters), the stock began to crash. Smells like an overreaction to me.
