Jim Cramer pushed Starbucks (SBUX) throughout 2006 citing strong overseas growth, especially from a growing presence in China, but the stock couldn't push past 40 as worries about decelerating domestic growth and a weakening brand presence frequented the news. The point is that Cramer is all about momentum and you shouldn't listen to him if you have a perspective beyond about an hour. Why else would he push people in Starbucks at 39 and steer them clear at 25? The signs that Starbucks was overvalued at 39 were clear, but he chose to ignore them. The clear sign that Starbucks was overvalued was that everything thing that management said about growth was "China this" and "China that." Same thing with Walmart. They might just as well as say = "We have saturated the US market and can only grow if we colonize the moon."
