Anyone who flies these days knows how bad it is. And, it doesn't matter what airline. With rising fuel costs and still deep financial constraints, airline stocks are good shorts, but nothing else.

I am not sure that I would short them, because this private equity thing is getting so out of hand that they may become the next target (after all, private equity is already targeting the auto industry). I agree that they are lousy investments and will ordinarily go through a cycle of bankruptcy that could easily be accelerated by unforeseen terrorist incidents.
