I heard on the news today that Michael Moore is encouraging people and funds to sell all of their health insurance stocks

Michael Moore is apparently going to Wall Street today and encouraging all Funds, and independent investors to sell their health insurance holdings.

I certainly don't like dealing with the insurance companies, and do think they are part of the problem in healthcare today.  Selling their stocks isn't a way of adressing the issues.

What it may do though is to create a short term drop in the value of these stocks while not affecting the real value of the underlying assets- i.e a buying opportunity.  I will be buying stocks like UNH-United Healthcare- this afternoon on any weakness.

There will be no buying opportunity at least not today.

Main Street may respond to Michael Moore, but Wall Street will not.

I doubt that Michael Moore will have a ripple of an impact on any of the stocks he is targeting. I wouldn't count on picking up any discount.

Looks like you guys are right. UNH is up today. At least some people see through Moore's rhetoric.
