The article tries to make the case that while the average consumer did okay in their investing, the banks and brokers did horribly. That's true at an institutional level, but as individuals, I bet the employees of these banks did pretty well. They almost always do. As long as they retained their jobs, I bet their salaries didn't take a hit. Maybe they didn't get bonuses but salaries are already in the six figures.
