It doesn't make sense that GM is still in the Dow while Apple, Cisco, PepsiCo, and other more successful companies aren't.

It's sad how far the big 3 automakers have fallen. I agree that maybe it's time for a change.

Ridiculous. The Dow is intended to me a balanced index of thirty companies representing the largest US industries. Kicking companies out because they don't perform well and replacing them with other companies distorts the index. As long as the US has an auto industry, the largest company in the industry should be one of the thirty companies in the Dow.

GM should be kicked out. It's not even the largest US automaker by market cap - Ford is. I also agree that there are other industries that should be represented. It's clear that the US has ceded it's leadership in the auto industry and the Dow should reflect that.
