Where is the rage already with Blackstone? These guys are getting ready for their IPO and they let the Chinese government come into a position a month before the IPO that will enable China to walk away from the IPO and collect $5 billion, then it is disclosed that the company is paying its CEO $7 billion and that it will therefore have accounting writedowns for the next 2 1/2 years after the IPO in order to cover this. Now, I agree that private companies should be able to do whatever they want, but a Senate that is talking about regulating hedge funds (mistakenly, imho) should be taking a very serious look at this IPO.
