Prior to the passage of this law, AT&T, Verizon and other major carriers could be sued for breaking federal privacy laws and violating their customers’ privacy by agreeing to the White House’s requests to conduct wiretaps without a valid court order. I think that the opponents of this law, including Hillary, are still living in a pre-9/11 world or are completely misguided by the ACLU, and I am glad that the law was finally passed.
