I had subscribed to the view that Google and Apple would save this economy. Google's disappointing results show that even this behemoth is not immune from a global ad sales slowdown. Apple may continue to be an outlier to the upside, but these companies are not going to lift all of tech, and I guess that things will get worse this earnings season.

I'm not sure how two companies that employ fewer than 100,000 people between them are going to save the economy.

Ad companies and consumer electronics companies don't save economies, they simply benefit or suffer from them.
