Forget the price; Americans have always lined up to get the newest, best thing on the block. That's what Steve Jobb has counted on. He's a master at it. What person, in a cool minute of reflection, would buy a cell phone that must be returned to the manufacturer for replacement when the battery goes? What do they do while the battery is being replaced?I guess when the battery goes, people will either sit around thinking how stupid they were or pay the costs of sending the phone back, paying $20 for a temporary replacement which then has to be returned, transferring all data to the replacement phone (and then taking it off when yours is returned) or take a hammer and break the thing open and find out that the battery isn't even protected and extractable by a human. If you are lucky enough for the battery to go out while the phone is still on warranty -- those are your only problems. If it goes out after the warranty expires, you will be charged a whole lot more (not just $20 for the replacement loaner) -- another $80 plus.So you get beauty and dazzle -- and a lot of attention from your friends. But inside, you have got to feel very, very stupid.
