Federal Reserve Makes $19 Billion on Crisis Loans

The Federal Reserve made $19 billion, or $14 billion more than it would have made on a risk free deployment of its capital, through charging interest and fees to financial institutions and investors that tapped its emergency loan liquidity programs. While its mortgage and other asset portfolios are still at risk, it is nice to see that these programs are working to the benefit of the taxpayers.
