This is an interesting commentary from Bloomberg on trust preferred securities issued by Citibank, yielding 25%, and Wells Fargo, yielding 12%, that are superior to preferred shares in a liquidation and may not be wiped out in a nationalization. I am not sure that I would be a buyer - obviously, this type of return does not come without extraordinary risk.
