General Motors just finalized the deal to buy AmeriCredit, in order to help provide credit for high-risk borrowers. If you have a lowered credit score because of a few late payments, this could help you get financed for a GM vehicle.

Caving in to the American Banker's Association, the FDIC has stipulated that the amount of loan debt it provides Ally Bank will be dependent on the deposit rates it offers. We've already seen Ally Bank lower its rates once after the ABA letter and I suspect we'll see more reductions in the future.

GMAC today issued a statement commenting on the filing of its once parent corporation General Motors. The statement shows that while the financing company does have exposure to GM, the terms of the bankruptcy will hopefully minimize any losses.

The Fed today made a special exemption and allowed GMAC to become a bank holding company, giving it access to TARP funds. That means that GMAC bank customers do not have to worry about the parent company defaulting.
