Interest rates are low. We know that. That doesn't mean there aren't some other ways to generate a few extra bucks from your bank. Generally, the longer the term the CD, the higher the APY it pays. If you want the higher interest rate but don't want the long-term commitment, you may want to check out low or no penalty CDs. Ally Bank has a few to offer.
