Worked with Midfirst/Vio for years. Never a problem

I will play my part and give my business to a small, family-owned company over a behemoth every time that I am given the chance with most products but Vio is a complete shitshow and has sent me back to Ally, a larger player but one that knows a thing or two about how to treat their customers.

I recently filed a complaint against VIO Bank's parent, Mid First Bank, with the Comptroller of Currency and the Dept. of Justice, Atty. General of Calif. The essence of my complaint was that VIO Bank did not notify me as they claimed, of a new savings acct. with a higher yield, as my account had a rate of a much lower yield.

I opened an account here having seen this listed here. Chasing rates or whatever nonsense I am engaged in. Swung my hard earned dinero over to some unknown bank and they immediately started charging me $5 statement fees and $10 excess transfer fees (saying that there is a regulatory requirement and thinking I am too stupid to know that it has been removed). I am going to Marcus now. They have no fees and have a 0.65% 9-month CD. I suggest you learn from my mistake.

The offered a high rate of interest so I put in money. After the first month, the rate dropped significantly so I tried to take out my money. It made me fill out the transfer info, put in an amount & submit. Then it called my cell for a confirm # they provided on the pc. Once I did that, I submitted just to be told that I was trying to transfer more money than I was allowed. I did this annoying dance 3 times to get an amount the bank would allow me to transfer. It will now take over 1 month to get my money out of the bank! Stay away from them!

I don't like the hold times and all of that. I also don't like the falling rates without notice and all of that. But, my experience over the last 3 months has been better than that described by others here. It is middle of the road 3 stars.

This supposed bank is a disaster. My husband and I tried to open an account today and tried filling out the application process several times and the information was correct however the computer said that it couldn't complete the process and to call Customer Service for assistance. The customer service rep was rude and said that he couldn't and wouldn't help me figure out what was wrong and that I would have to just keep trying. This is ridiculous as I have opened accounts with other banks using the same system without any problems and if I had a problem, their customer service representatives helped me complete the process. This bank is a joke. The customer service reps only read from a script and just say they can't help and that there is NO ONE that can assist! I emailed customer service and they won't respond. As previous reviewers state, "AVOID, AVOID, AVOID"! This really is against the law that they won't assist because when the customer has a disability and needs assistance-- they are required to help but again-- customer service said they Would Not and Could NOT help!!

Called the customer service number, because their online application wouldn't let me put my valid passport id # in. I'm disabled and don't have a drivers license or a state id. The fact that they won't take a valid passport which is the best form of identification should tell you something. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!

NEGATIVE STARS! Totally absurd application process ... put in all the information and infoless rejection. Like others, almost perfect credit score, lots of cash to move in, etc. denied without any explanation. Asking them what could go wrong with an application is met with I won't talk to you, unlike every other bank that will go through a KYC process to verify you. Oh, you can try applying again ... what good is that if you can't even specify what went wrong or possible hints to resolve it, or prove who you are. Feels like a total scam and I'm sure as hell going to report them to the regulators for their games denying credit checking which obligates them to explain a denial.

I tried to open a savings account today with Vio bank. The first problem was that they wanted a "cell phone" number. I only use my cell phone for emergencies so I called them and asked why a cell phone instead of my landline. I was told by their customer care representative to put my landline phone as my cell phone. After filling in the information for the joint account, my application was rejected. When I call customer service, I was told they could NOT tell me why the application was rejected. I asked if there was someone to call to see what was wrong and was told to reapply. I have 3 other online high yield accounts and have never been treated so shably. They advertise a very high interest rate, and I guess they can offer it by not accepting application. I will keep my 3 other money market accounts that do not offer 2.52% interest like Vio bank advertises, but at least they offer good customer care. I would not recommend anyone to try to use this 'supposed' bank.

Emailed customer service asking to close the account. They dint reply??? Strange bank. The sooner I can get my money out of there the better.

Great rates for online savings. Calling on the phone got through to someone quick that was nice and helpful. The web site seems a bit immature and not intuitive. Tried to transfer money in, went through several hoops including phone text msg code only to be then told the amount of transfer was too high. It didn't even tell me what the limit was! The really sad part is the limited online transfer to $2000/day and only a total of $6000/mo. (ACH) That's in both directions! I need a real bank and not a toy one. Plan on closing the account soon as my 90 day penalty period is past.

There are a few hoops to go through but I thought worth it. You can't transfer more than $6,000 /mo in via their site but NO LIMIT if you make transfer from another bank. Same with W/Ds. For big rate diff .25% I thought worth it. for $30,000
