TIAA, FSB Reviews (40)

TIAA stole money from university professors and staff and mismanaged assets so badly that a generation of people in academia were denied a comfortable retirement.

Went to renew a cd at branch in Jacksonville Fl , on main street, they said I would have to keep driving around building , if any cars came in behind me. They have 2 drive throughs and wouldn't open other lane, Now you have 3 or 4 women plus a guard behind glass in the building just staring through at you and about had a heart attack when I suggested opening other lane so I could finish renewing my cd. Pure lazy, afraid they might have to hustle a little. Since you couldn't go in you have to use drive through. I told them this was bull s. and they just kept staring through the glass like owls saying have a nice day, have a nice day. They were just rude and lazy. I'm going to another bank when cds mature even if rates are lower!!

I have never had a problem with a bank, except for this one. With Goldman Sachs I was able to open an externally funded CD in two hours. With TIAA it took two weeks and 4 phone calls. To make matters worse, I did not get the APR I expected/ Along the way, they broke promises of a confirming email "within the hour" (never came at all) and a call back from a senior banker within 24 hours (never happened either). Slow, incompetent, don't tell the truth.

I sent a check to open a CD. They obviously received it because the CD appeared online in the amount of the check. Two days later they denied ever receiving the check. Either I am dreaming (not the case) or these guys are really off. Fortunately, the money was never drawn from my other bank.

Everbank and now TIAA pull the same trick - Get your deposit, hope you forget about it and then lower the rate. I have never done well with teaser rate accounts. I always end up with the less interest in the end. There is a reason this bank has so many bad reviews. If they treat their employees bad; the customers will be treated badly.

I have to completely agree with Money Mgr. For the 3+ yrs. that I have been a customer of Everbank, I've not had 1 problem involving any account. And as for customer service, EVERYONE I have used has been superb. Involving those rating them low, I'm sure that it's based upon a variety of factors & experiences, as I could certainly list 4 financial institutions that I've encountered that would be definition of a disaster, etc.

In having used Everbank for the last 3 or 4 yrs., at least, I was quite surprised at the reviews it has been given. I'm not sure as to what types of accounts the reviewers have or have had & are referring to, but I've not had one problem with them, including service. These reviews sure don't correspond to the Everbank I know !!
