Parent seems to be owned by a large Chilean bank. Not saying this is good or bad, but it is complication, especially in the current environment.

Bank is owned by a Florida bank and yet I wasn't able to open an account because I live in Florida. Go figure!

It says: "Please note: TotalDirectBank can conduct business anywhere in the US with the exception of California, Florida, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands." Nice of them to say twice that they won't do business with people from PR!

More than a handful of annoying things but I finally go the account opened. It won't work for you if you live in Florida, California, Hawaii, Guam, etc.

I couldn't tell if my application was received so entered it multiple times. Then was rejected for being a Florida resident. Parent bank is called City National Bank of Florida and they are descriminating against FL residents?

Pros: easy to open, could reach a phone rep easily. Cons: not the smoothest application process, couldn't figure out whether application was received so I entered it multiple times. I also did not like that I had to go back and link accounts through the accounts (not through entering check numbers) which I really didn't like (I had seen this once before on Radius). Overall, was worthwhile as I can't beat the rate.
