Amazon delivers bread, butter and peas

With all the failures in grocery delivery, it is strange, indeed, to see Amazon putting its toe into this arena. But that is exactly what Amazon is doing. They have begun, without fanfare, to deliver fresh groceries in the Seattle area. For any other company, one would just say they probably have lost their sense of direction. But, Amazon is another case entirely.

But, Amazon is another case entirely.

Many companies in the 1990s moved into this space, only to fail when their revenue stream couldn't keep up with infrastructure investment needs (warehouses, trucks, etc.). But apparently Amazon sees beyond these problems to a business opportunity that could make a significant profit with sufficient investment behind it. They've called the business Amazon Fresh, and I bet they are going to lead the way in an area with ever more opportunity given people's lifestyles these days.

Hats off to Amazon. These folks are amazing.
