    Your not locked in for 5 years. You can take it out any time but you will lose interest for a specified term. My credit union which holds my Roth IRA will dun me 6 months interest but your not making much anyway.

    To lock in @ 5 years may be risky. When watching MSNBC the other day they were saying rates are to be gradually going up. May be a gamble, but everything is.

    None of the rates shown can be found at any of the banks. The actual bank rates are almost half of what is shown here.

    ??? Looked up rates at PenFed (we're a member) and they show a 5 yr at 1.76%. The last time it was 3.0 and over (3.04) was in Dec. 2013 (for the 5 & 7 year).

    Penfed offers a 60 month cd at 3 percent.
