Your not locked in for 5 years. You can take it out any time but you will lose interest for a specified term. My credit union which holds my Roth IRA will dun me 6 months interest but your not making much anyway.

I saw in the Phoenix, Arizona an ad for Sun Cities Financial Group advertising a high yield CD special for 4.40%? Is this legitimate?

To lock in @ 5 years may be risky. When watching MSNBC the other day they were saying rates are to be gradually going up. May be a gamble, but everything is.

  • Ray P

    December 30, 2015

None of the rates shown can be found at any of the banks. The actual bank rates are almost half of what is shown here.

    Jack:

??? Looked up rates at PenFed (we're a member) and they show a 5 yr at 1.76%. The last time it was 3.0 and over (3.04) was in Dec. 2013 (for the 5 & 7 year).

  • Jack Mazer

    January 27, 2014

Penfed offers a 60 month cd at 3 percent.
