First Graders Have Already Determined Internet Ad Winner

Google is dominant today but not as dominant as it might be in 10 years judging by a bunch of first graders.

I walk talking to my first-grade daughter the other day and she suddenly turned to me and said:

"Can you Google ballerinas when we get home?" I did a double take. It's common to hear adults using Google as a verb but to hear it from my six year old was quite another thing. It immediately made me realize that the online advertising wars are over, if they ever began. Google is the winner. I went and talked to her friends and asked them to name some popular sites. Here's what they listed:

  • Miniclips
  • Pokemon
  • Webkinz
  • Google

The first three you woud expect but I was shocked that all of them named Google. It's presence is so pervasive that these kids know about it before they probably even use it. Notice the names that aren't on here - Microsoft, Facebook, MySpace, etc.

Before long, these kids will be all over the Internet and where do you think they'll go to search? That's right, Google.

These kids are the future of the Web, and right now it points to Google.
