Three Months to Go and The Democrats are Failing

The 2018 November election is not for president, but will be one of the most consequential moments in American history. It is, sadly, only three months away.

For the first two years of the rogue presidency of Donald Trump, the country has been completely under the control of the Republican Party. And, now just a couple of years in, the Republican party has surrendered and morphed into the Trump party. Simply stated there isn’t any opposition within the Republican party with say, influence, or power. And, the Democrats, without a majority anywhere, are powerless.

Under normal circumstances, this would not be healthy for America, but under this president the nation is at grave risk.

Normally, the party in power does less well in the mid terms than the one on the sidelines. And, many are hoping that will be the case here too. But, the Democrats have been unable to find a compelling voice, much less a unified one.

They have become, simply, the anti Trump party. And, that doesn’t give them much of an advantage. Moreover, they have stupidly split at least in two with one side – the more spirited – championing democratic socialism and more youthful candidates. But, democratic socialism is tired and a huge turnoff to most voters, even most democratic voters. This is just not the time to call for free college, free healthcare, free everything. It is also not the time to get tripped up by calling for the elimination of ICE.

If the Democrats can’t quickly find a compelling and unifying message, they will surely loose the mid-terms and, more than likely, the country for all of us. This is a critical time and they are blowing it. How stupid, and how sad.
