Alliant Ratio Analysis

The following ratios and data are available to help you better understand the financial condition of Alliant. The data is provided by the NCUA. All credit unions on BestCashCow, except those specified as not NCUA-insured in the overview section above, are NCUA-insured. Depositors should be careful to remain within NCUA insurance limits.

Texas Ratio
Alliant U.S. Average
1.46% 3.79

The Texas Ratio compares the amount of loans at risk and assets repossessed with the amount a credit union has on hand to cover any losses. The closer the Texas Ratio is to 1-to-1 or 100%, the less capital and reserves a credit union has to absorb its loan losses.

As of June 30, 2021, Alliant had $20,743,682 in non-current loans and $1,347,019 in owned assets. To cover these potential losses it had $1,434,980,529 in net worth and $76,607,927 in loans loss reserves. That gives it a Texas Ratio of 1.46%.

Net Worth
Alliant U.S. Average
10.04% 12.22%

Alliant FCU has a net worth of 10.04% versus the BestCashCow average of 12.22. Net worth measures how much total assets exceed total liabilities. The higher the net worth number the more secure a credit union is considered.

I joined this bank and went through the process of applying for a HELOC. Everything seemed to be going well with only the paperwork needing to be signed and when I contacted them about having a POA and therefore needing the paperwork altered so the notary could sign off on it Alliant just dropped me in the process completely. The people I had been in contact with did not return my calls and the time period elapsed without my completing the transaction. It was a total waste of my time. When I called the bank to have someone explain why this happened they could not offer me any reason for it so I closed my account

The savings rate is a draw barely, but you really need to think twice before joining. I've been a member for 12 years and cannot get approved for anything even with good credit. Plus, I am told that they do a hard credit pull when you apply to open, even if you are just opening for savings.

On Credit Card. Crooks got paid through "PayPal" for a non-delivered item. Alliant insisted I go through PayPal to get a chargeback. The crooks used a no-longer-existing fake account to receive money. So PayPal could not find the payment. Alliant knew where the money went, that it had been charged to my account, and that there was no delivery.

I went through all procedures as I worked as a bank regulator for decades. NO CHARGEBACK. Kept insisting PayPal had to find what crooks erased before I could get my relatively small amount. Which fraudsters had prevented.

I was a decade-long customer and the amount was not that great. Cost Alliant in employee/executive time much more than the amount to justify why crooks should get away with it. Even as a goodwill measure, chargeback does not come out of credit union funds. Blowback would have been on ME, not Alliant. Credit Unions are "owned" by members, not payees.

If you have a question then they have an answer. "Go to the branch." May be OK if you live in Chicago, but I do not.
