How are the recent experiences with Cap one savings?

I am in Capital one hell. I authorize a one time transfer from my checking acct to Capital One. They have done it 3x in one week. I called and emailed after the 2nd time they said it could not happen again. Then they did a third time!!! I am so frustrated. I am going to cancel my account once this mess is straightened out. They keep saying I must have authorized additional transfers but I was working a 13 hour day at the time I was supposed to have done the tranfer. Very scary, very stressful. I am glad I followed up with emails after the 1st call. It at least documents my contacts with them

Just opened an account. Very long hold time. Deposited a check from another account on 4/26/10, which cleared 4/27/10. When I called them they said they had to verify the check until 4/28/10, then it would not clear until 5/12/10 to make sure it was not money laundering. I hope it improves from here.

I've been exploring the best rates for a money market account and started off with capital one online banking at 1.60% intro rate, after 60 days they dropped it to 1.40%. So far, capital one has been very good to me. I was able to deposite and withdrawal money with no penalties or hidden fees. They pay whatever interest you earn on a monthly basis and deposite to your account, all itemized. After reading the reviews of other banks (from angry customers) who offer higher interests rate, I decided to just stay put with Capital One online banking, eventhough the interest rate is low, they have great customer service and they don't jack with your money.

I was attracted to Capital One thru the special Costco savings program a few years ago and have found that they continue to have one of the better rates. You can find higher rates but to Captial One's credit they haven't nose dived as badly as some banks (Emigrant, WT Direct, E-Trade, Provident, etc). On the bad side, I really don't like Captial One's super long holds on transfers in and out. They have the longest holds of any bank I deal with (E-Trade is the best in my experience), which means they really aren't a contender in this market of rate chasing. Pity for them!

Their back-office procedures are a mess. But the interest rate is pretty good, and you can write checks on this Costco account with CapOne.

Beware of Capital One Online Bank. After account was opened they froze my account with $175,000 and claimed they had a right to review it and submit three forms of id: SS Card, Drivers License, and Utility Bill. All AFTER you open the account. (All after I was client for 60 days!!) After fighting with them for a month, I got money from bank. God forbid you don't have right information; their agreement specifies they can take your money in the name of the Patriot Act. In addition, they delay processing money transfers by two additional days for the float, and dropped rates day after aggressive advertising campaign. My advise: Stay away!
